Before Surgery
Physiotherapy
Starting a physiotherapy program to build up mobility and strength before surgery is known as ‘prehabilitation’ and has been shown to improve outcomes. For most procedures it is advised you start your ‘prehab’ program about one month before your surgery date. After surgery you should start your post-surgical physiotherapy within 1-5 days. For an in-clinic physiotherapy experience you can book your appointment with the HyperRegen therapy team. We will work with you 1-1 to deliver a personalized and state-of-the-art rehab experience.
If you wish to arrange physiotherapy at your home, consider using Therapia. Therapia is a home physiotherapy service specializing in surgical rehabilitation. Their therapists will work with you to prepare your home environment for the post-operative experience and carry out your rehabilitation plan as well. You can call 416-526-6933 or visit therapia.com to book your appointment.
UofT students are covered for post-operative physical and athletic therapy by their student insurance at the David L. Macintosh Sports Medicine Clinic. If you are a U of T student please book your therapy at the MacIntosh Clinic.
